East Africa has been producing these Tourmalines for a decade now - most of the gems from this deposit are along the Dravite-Uvite spectrum, both scarce members of the Tourmaline group.  The colors are very rich and autumnal; deep browns, rich gold-greens and very unusual predominantly orange stones such as this one.  The tone is just right and there are some interesting pleochroic flashes of yellow and green.  Fresh from cutting, the stone is perfectly eye clean and bright - great size and shape.
