Liddicoatite from Madagascar is truly one of the wonders of the gem world. The sheer ability for this material to exhibit its zoning is downright amazing. One of the most effective ways to capture this is to take a horizontal slice of one of these crystals and then polish both sides to allow light through. You can see the result here - extremely thin bands of color begin encircling green and yellows section near the crystals surface, through areas of light grayish-blue and pink, finally ending with a purplish-pink section at the core.  In a certain percentage of these crystals you also find the wonderful 'triangle' zone at the center.  Here this is shown magnificently - a true gemological wonder

Many of these are cut very thin, however this particular example was cut thick enough (just over 2 mm) as to allow for the possibility of actually using it in a piece of jewelry - a custom bezel would work just fine. From a well known and documented locality.
