An impressive Sinhalite that is certainly among the best we have ever offered. While these are now found in a few localities worldwide, they remain most commonly encountered in the locale for which they are named - Sri Lanka. Always fairly scarce, they are doubly so when in weights above 10 carats. Add to that a precision cut - quite uncommon for these - and you have a true rarity. Furthermore, the gem is loupe clean and the color is quite good - not at all dark for these. Interestingly, this rough came from a mineral dealer that noted the exact locality - an added bonus. A very lively and bright rarity.
