Prior to some finds in recent years in Brazil, gem Petalite was an extreme rarity. It is a stark white stone that is actually durable enough for some jewelry uses. The cutting here is freshly done and very nice - the gem has taken a great polish. Very few sizable, clean, natural gem materials can be had so inexpensively - particularly those that fall into the 'rare stone' category. This is large and fine, clean 10+ carat stones have never been plentiful.
