Leifite is an extraordinarily rare gem species from the famed Mont Saint-Hilaire deposit. Specimens are composed of fine and very thin needles, so the few stones cut are even smaller and typically so included as to be translucent at best. For its size and clarity, this one is very nearly as fine as they come. The stone has a fine overall gemmy quality and a nice flash of brilliance. A bit of trivia, this species was indeed named for Viking Leif Erikson!
