Despite the amount of cab grade Rhodochrosite (the classic banded material) that comes from Argentina, it is quite uncommon to find a stone of sufficient transparency and such a 'gemmy' nature that it can be faceted. This gem is a remarkable example of just such an Argentinean gem - large, bright and nearly completely transparent. Stones like this diffuse the ambient light and present a glow (as opposed to a sharp brilliance) that is quite attractive. Outstanding polish and a fine size.
