Gem quality Datolite is extremely uncommon - for years being encountered only as small gems from the area around Westfield, Massachusetts. When the superb mineral specimens starting coming out of Dal'Negorsk, Russia, Datolite was among those species available - a situation which also provided some gem rough These have become difficult gems to find now as much of this material was found many years ago - they are exceptionally brilliant stones when given a fine cut, as this stone has. Great size, bright and brilliant - an unthinkable size before the Russian finds and now very difficult to source.
