Somewhat more well known for producing star Garnet, the Emerald Creek area in Idaho is also capable of producing facet grade material - though this is, by far, the largest that we have had. The area is actually administered by the Forest Service and is a fee collecting area - see here. This is a gorgeous example, a custom cut round with a great luster. The color is classically very dark, but there is a fair bit of brilliance still, surprising given the exceptional size. Very fine example and a classic US piece in a scarcer large size.
