Gem quality Datolite is extremely uncommon - for years being encountered only as small gems from the area around Westfield, Massachusetts. When the superb mineral specimens starting coming out of Dal'Negorsk, Datolite was among those species available - a situation which also provided some gem rough These have become difficult gems to find now as much of this material was found many years ago - they are exceptionally brilliant stones when given a fine precision cut, as this stone has been. Moreover, the excellent clarity makes for a really dazzling example of this scarce species. Great size, bright and brilliant - an unthinkable size before the Russian finds and now very difficult to source.
