A remarkable example of an old and classic gem material - Indian ‘sunstone’. Cabs of this material have been on the market for many decades but we almost never see these faceted - the material is heavily included with hematite platelets and is often fractured and essentially opaque. What is fascinating about this example is the quality and remarkable transparency. In fact, the lower density of platelets makes large portions of the stone entirely transparent; similar in this regard to some Tanzanian material. This results in a depth and brilliance that you would otherwise never expect in the material. A gem that will make you appreciate this variety - really lovely and quite rare as such.
