Named for its original type locality in Sweden, Bastnaesite was exceedingly rare as a faceted stone prior to finds in Pakistan over a decade ago. We don’t often see them any longer and were completely surprised to find a stone of this size and quality. Even when these were somewhat ‘available’ we never saw a clean, 5+ gem let alone one that has been given the attention of a US precision cut. Unquestionably a museum grade stone, it is clean and has a lovely rich color without being too dark a tone. Magnificent!
