A large and magnificent example of this rare and under appreciated color variety of Herderite. Profiled in the Spring 2004 issue of Gems & Gemology (available here), the largest stone from this find now finds pride of place in the National Gem Collection at the Smithsonian Institution. This example features the distinctive apple-green hue and is particularly notable for the excellent clarity and fine cutting - there were very few stones to begin with, and even fewer this nice. We found this one stashed at the back of the safe from a purchase years ago!
