A most interesting Tourmaline from a special locality. The name Tsilaizite is sometimes still used to describe brownish-gold and olive tone Tourmalines - the name itself comes from an actual locality, the Tsilaizina Mine in southern Madagascar. Gems from this mine are particularly rich in Manganese, upwards of 3% of the chemical makeup. While not enough to yet qualify as a separate variety of Tourmaline (which would then be Tsilaizite), they are unique among other gem Tourmalines. We have only offered a few of these over the years, all from the same now gone supply channel. This stone is the largest and cleanest example of this rare material of all those which we have had in quite some time. Moreover, the color is exceptional - brighter and considerably less brown than most. From a famed collection.
