If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing a true Rainbow Calcite in person, then prepare to be amazed. There is not really any other natural gem material that compares. Needless to say, this does not translate particularly well to a still photograph, however, the display of colors is nothing short of astonishing. Set against a completely colorless background these are magnificent - a full spectrum constantly emitting from the stone. This is a lovely example - great dispersive flash and with a perfect, precision cut. The key to these is that the Calcite must be cut from a twinned crystal or you will not get the spectral flash. There are a few light veils visible but nothing high relief and the dispersion largely buries these. Very impressive indeed.
