Celestite from Madagascar is fairly common as mineral specimens, but faceting the material is rather difficult so gems are actually quite rare. Moreover, stones that feature the classic faint blue color of the crystals are very hard to source - almost all cut stones are completely devoid of color. This one essentially has it all - fine color and clarity in a dazzling precision cut. The quality of the cutting and polish cannot be overstated here; you would never suspect this brilliant and reflective gem has a hardness of only 3 1/2! Additionally, it is a very manageable size for the collection; many of these have to much larger to show any color. Simply a lovely stone.
