This is an unusual hue for Kyanite - a kind of very slightly greenish-blue with a violet modifier. We have seen some Malagasy stones (high in Chromium and Vanadium) that look quite close to this older Brazilian piece. More saturated than typically seen, the color is quite distinct and attractive. Larger example and nicely cut for Kyanite as well.
