A fun and relatively large example of a species that is rarely faceted. Azurite makes for an interesting collector's gem; it is soft and not easy to facet, despite the fact that specimens are often gemmy and the color is quite lovely. This gem has some slight asymmetries but has the most unique quality of these - largely so dark as to appear black except when hit with transmitted light. Then you see it, that unmistakable deep Azurite blue that is absolutely unique.
