Rhodochrosite is not a species known for featuring chatoyancy or asterism - in fact, very few stones are documented and most tend to be underwhelming. This is actually one of the most distinct and respectable examples of a true star Rhodochrosite that we have run across. A well polished and nicely transparent round cab plays host to a moderate 4-ray star that takes just a decent light source to see and move freely. Quite remarkable to see this effect in Rhodochrosite, and a classic Colorado stone as well!
