Maw-Sit-Sit is an interesting and attractive gem material. It is an aggregate of several minerals (foremost among those chromite and kosmochlor) that is produced as a byproduct of jadeite mining in Northern Burma. The color is a superb, vivid moss green with darker green and black contrasting areas. As a one source material, it is not widely known but has still managed to gain an audience by the sheer nature of its distinctive look. At around 7 on the Moh's scale, it is durable enough for jewelry use. We never see much of this material in finer grades.
