Serendibite is an interesting gem material. It was first discovered in gem grade among the gravels of Sri Lanka - since then only a precious few of these gray-blue-green gems have been reported. Several years ago, however, a deposit of Serendibite was discovered in Burma. These stones are very large and very clean for the species but are so dark as to be opaque. These are actually extremely dark slightly bluish green in color, usually visible in strong transmitted light. Needless to say, it is very unusual to put together a fine matched pair of these, but we simply couldn't resist the rarity of it! A very fine pair actually, excellent match for polish and proportion. Certainly one of the few out there.
