A quite rare species that we have offered just a few times in the last decade. We do like to draw attention to esoteric gem materials and Whewellite is certainly no exception being that is one of the few minerals that can have an organic origin. In fact, Whewellite (calcium oxalate chemically speaking) is one of the major components of kidney stones. Yes, you could very well be carrying around some of this mineral with you at this very moment!
As you may imagine, these are rare; fine gems of any size are even more so. This lovely example is very nicely cut (amazingly so, given its 2 1/2 hardness) and is nothing short of huge for the species. Remarkably fine polish for the species.
