It is almost unheard of to have this quality of a cat’s eye in gemmy Spinel. It is not a species that lends itself easily to this phenomenon; stars can be had but these are always opaque and have a milky appearance. It is just happenstance that the right inclusions were orientated correctly to produce the effect seen here - all the while without negatively impacting the overall gemmy appearance and transparency of Spinel. This resulting stone is the best that we have ever had; a fine moderate eye rolls nicely across a greyish-purple body that is fully transparent. A few crystalline inclusions are present but don’t distract and the eye is impressively solid and strong and the color attractive. A fine stone and a true rarity for the lover of phenomena.
