It is actually quite unusual to find a gemmy Smithsonite that approaches completely transparent - the overwhelming majority of Smithsonites are translucent at best given their typical habit as botryoidal masses. Single crystal pieces are rare, hence the paucity of gems such as this. Very brilliant and dispersive, it is nice to see that typically hidden quality. Nicely cut and quite attractive, these are rare indeed.
