Rutile is capable of producing one of the most visually unique of chatoyant gems. Not only is the golden brown eye often quite sharp, as is the case here, but it is seen in combination with an exceptionally high luster. In fact, the metallic luster of this piece is the highest possible on a gem material. Great, razor-sharp eye and a fine, larger size for these. As is nearly always the case, this one is Sri Lankan in origin.
