A famed American stone, these chrome Pyropes are the so-called Arizona 'anthill' garnets. A lively and intense red bodycolor that is essentially unmatched by Pyrope garnet from other localities. These have been mined for many decades and are never very large, so a stone of this size is quite a notable example. It has been a number of years since we have sourced a fine stone of nearly 1 1/2 carats - they simply are not available. The remarkable and classic deep pure red bodycolor is perfectly represented here and the cutting is nicely done and (remarakably!) calibrated. Entirely eye clean, there will be some rutile needles and the classic Apatite crystals visible under magnification. Superb stone.
