A very unique and fine phenomenal Sapphire from Umba. Found while looking over a parcel of Tanzanian goods, the dramatic effect of visible Rutile reflections across the table jumped out when the light hit the stone just right. We sometimes see something related in Montana stones, but there it is usually more visible in general lighting and sometimes results in a general haziness to the gem - the effect here is very much like Oregon Sunstone in that the gem appears nearly clean before the reflection shows up. And they simply couldn’t be situated any better than directly across the gem’s table. Great, larger size and well cut this is a magnificent collector’s gem.
