No doubt, one of the most obscure and difficult to source gem materials in the world. Essentially the top prize for a collector of gems from the United Stated, the only known occurrence for gem Zektzerite lies at a rugged elevation in Washington. Crystals are exceptionally rare, even here at their type locality, so there have never been more than a few faceted examples of this material in the decades since its discovery.
Considerably more gemmy than the photos may lead you to believe, this is also one of the largest of this species that we have ever offered. The cutting is very nicely done and the color is attractive, more pinkish than many of these. There is one exposed pit on the pavilion (see last photo) but no real high-relief inclusions. To find a gem Zektzerite of this size with this level of brilliance is very difficult, they are simply not available. To mention again, the color is very fine as well. Great for the species collector - to quote Sinkankas (Gemstones of North America), it is surely "among the rarest of all gems".
