A great rarity, doubly so as the largest and finest we have seen in recent memory. New Jersey Zincite is the stuff of legend in the gem world, the deposit being the only locale for facet grade material - and one that has not produced in many, many years. Add in a stunning color - a vivid red that is among the most striking of any gem and you have a species that has always been a coveted rarity. Indeed, even small examples (less than 0.15 ct.) are now avidly sought if they have top color. For many years we have been relegated to such small examples, hoping to see a 1 carat stone, let alone one of this quality that weighs nearly 2 carats. As befitting this museum grade gem, the cutting is a custom US job to showcase that color. There are a few low relief included crystals that are seen only with 10x - a clarity nearly as impressive as the color. Vivid hue, precision cutting and great rarity.
