A fascinating stone from a well known, but long closed, locality in Connecticut. As gem US Beryl goes, golden examples (Heliodor) are actually one of scarcer color varieties - we see both Aqua and Morganite much more often. It would actually be easier to find a Red Beryl than to replace this particular piece. The Roebling Quarry had produced some gem rough since initial mining efforts in the 1880’s; several larger stones made their way to the Smithsonian. These are quite scarce now - the site has been largely closed since the 1970’s and this piece was cut from an old collection example. Entirely clean and bright, the color is pleasant and the cutting is a US precision job. A lovely stone from an impossible locale in today’s market.
