If you have looked at all at the supply of Chrysoberyl cat's eye in the market, then you know that there is a huge range of qualities. From stones that are essentially opaque to those that show a fine level of gem transparency. This lovely example is at the top end of this range, a very gemmy stone with a fine, sharp eye. It does all the neat visual tricks that these are famous for, including the ‘milk and honey’ effect (see the last photo). Clean with no internal clarity issues and with an absolutely classic color for Sri Lankan examples - that rich, golden greenish-yellow. Very difficult to find now in such a top quality and a perfect size for the collection or for use in jewelry.
