A famed American stone, these chrome Pyropes are the so-called Arizona 'anthill' garnets. A lively and intense red bodycolor that is essentially unmatched by Pyrope garnet from other localities. These have been mined for many decades and are never very large, so a stone of this size is quite a respectable example. When seen with a strong transmitted light, this gem has a few tiny examples of the classic rounded crystalline inclusions as well as the equally classic needles - a great treat that is nearly invisible face-up. Fantastic color and excellent size.
