A remarkable new discovery and, as with many finds in the gem world, quite unexpected. These are currently being studied for a feature article so we don’t yet know the nature of the inclusion causing this pattern, only that the species is Grossular Garnet. We do certainly know that these are fantastic and extraordinary little stones and certainly not what one would expect from a Garnet. From China, the slice is taken from the direct center of the crystal, so only one stone per crystal, much different than the trapiche pattern in other species. On a very light pinkish-purple bodycolot, the pattern is extremely well defined and striking in-hand. Beautifully polished and cut with a lovely little bezel at the edge. Superb!
