A gorgeous and superbly cut Fluorite from this now well known English locality.  The color of Rogerley Fluorites is quite distinctive - it is a bit more saturated than most and is not above being called an 'emerald' green.  Fine specimens from the mine have been showing up at mineral shows in recent years - it is currently the only site in Britain being mined on a commercial basis solely for the recovery of mineral specimens.  As facet rough is not the first priority, stones are not common in the market.  As the size increases so too does the saturation, so the color is just exceptional.

Beyond their bodycolor, Rogerley Fluorites are also famed for their blue daylight fluorescence. As this is often near the edges in crystals specimens, it is generally a quality that is lost in cut stones - not the case here at all. The gem will acquire a spectacular blue modifier in sunlight; the central photo shows the gem with longwave UV to really accentuate the effect. Really quite stunning; a special stone indeed.
