A magnificent example of a rarely faceted species. Sturmanite of any size is found only in South Africa and we have only seen a few small faceted stones previously - it does not produce large or particularly gemmy crystals. The superb US precision cut of the stone (Sturmanite has a hardness of only 2 1/2!) and the very large size for the species make this one particularly special. The color is a vibrant slightly greenish-yellow and the stone is extremely transparent. Free from any fractures or high relief inclusions, there are a few scattered brownish platelet inclusions and nothing else. A very fine stone and the best example of the species we have had. .
