A few months back we added a cat’s eye Poudretteite to our site inventory - an exceedingly rare variety that is likely only matched by this one. While there has been some production of Grandidierite from Madagascar, the material is typically highly fractured so clean stones are rare, but rare also are those stones with only needle-like inclusions and no fractures. This is the material that produces chatoyancy and we have only see two or three successful examples of a true cat’s eye. This one is just what we had hoped to find; a largely clean gem with the top color for the species and a fine degree of transparency coupled with just enough needles to make for a moderate eye. One of the very few available and quite rare as such.
