A unique example of a US mineral that we offered only once or twice before. Named for the famed Franklin deposits in Sussex Co., New Jersey, this stone has a fine pedigree as it comes from the inventory of a renowned mineral dealer. A Manganese borate mineral, Sussexite is fibrous in nature and soft (3 on the Moh’s scale) so it does not naturally lend itself to being a faceted gem material. This one simply couldn’t be nicer - great, consistent color in the classic shade and a fine polish. A fine example of an interesting rarity.
