Highly unusual gem grade green Augelite was discovered at a deposit in Peru over 15 years ago - see the Winter 2006 edition of Gems and Gemology for a write up of the find. We were never able to see more than just a few stones from this find and no subsequent material is coming out. In fact, we had all but given up being able to offer anymore of these before stumbling upon this gem quite recently. The stone has an extremely attractive bright ‘apple’ green hue that these were known for. Not clean, but relatively large and with close to top color for this rare variety.
