Here is something unexpected and quite special. While we have long been impressed with the very fine color possible in the best of these Iranian Demantoids, it wasn’t until the last few years that crystals with rather dramatic color zoning were found. Always scarce in Garnet, this particular color zoning is quite peculiar; stones can sometimes have a deep green ‘core’ around which is a significantly different yellowish-green. We have had a few of these cut into slices for maximum effect - it is very rare that a faceted stone doesn’t mix the colors and you have to hunt for the green by turning the stone.
This exceptional stone is absolutely perfect for what you would want in an example of this rare effect. A precision round brilliant in a strongly yellow modified green hue with a center of strong and saturated pure green. A truly unique Garnet and just the type of oddity we love.
