Long one of the great rarities of the gem world, there were just two or three faceted examples of Painite known to exist. This changed around a decade ago when a relatively large find was made in Burma. These have since largely disappeared and transparent stones are difficult to find yet again. While very dark, this gem is indeed fully transparent and has a deep brown bodycolor. Nicely cut, it even with give the elusive flash of red that these can someimes have. Largely clean and quite approachable for the species.
