The quintessentially rare species, Poudretteite was named for the family who operated at the Mont Saint-Hilaire deposit, where it was first discovered. In the last decade there have been a trickle of gems coming from the area around Mogok; these range from colorless to pink and smallish stones are the norm. This lovely colorless gem is beautifully clean and bright with the added attraction of being exceedingly well cut, always a bonus in the world of gem rarities. Lovely gem with a GIT mini-cert - always one of the trophies of gem collecting.
