A stone so rare and impressive that even most rare gem enthusiasts are unaware of it; Naya Pink Painite. This species has been famous now for many years - it was long one of the great rarities of the gem world and existed in one two or three faceted gems worldwide. With finds near Mogok in Burma more material came to market and, though notoriously low grade, there was the occasional gemmy stone in a very very dark brown-red. Tone was always the problem here as even the very rare clean faceted stone was always very dark.
What is little known is that near the village of Naya in northeastern Burma are found, on exceedingly rare occasions, gem Painites in a truly light and pleasant pink color. These have no become the variety that is present in only a few stones - they are truly beautiful and remarkably rare. This gem is a perfect example with fantastic color, great clarity and a fine cut. It could certainly be larger, but it could not be any rarer.
