1.43 ct. Arizona 'Anthill' Garnet

Color:  Very Dark Red Clarity:  Eye Clean
Origin:  Garnet Ridge, Dinnehotso, Apache Co., Arizona Cut:  Round Brilliant
Treatments:  None Measurements:  7 mm

A famed American stone, these chrome Pyropes are the so-called Arizona 'anthill' Garnets.  A lively and intense red bodycolor that is essentially unmatched by Pyrope garnet from other localities.  Larger stones are dark so the overall impression is of a stone that is very very deep red but will catch the light and through back some intense red brilliance.  These have been mined for many decades for use as accent stones - they are quite rare in weights of 1 carat.  The stone is completely clean and the cutting is uncommonly fine (even calibrated!) for the material - just what you want to see with these.
