1.01 ct. Phosphophyllite
An extremely fine example of this always in-demand rare species. The color
of Phosphophyllite is so distinctive that is has long been a favorite.
Specimens of this mineral are particularly valued by collectors, so access to
facet rough is extremely limited - a one carat gem remains the benchmark size
for rarity in these. Moreover, it is not an easy material to
facet (a Moh's hardness of 3 1/2) and so it often suffers from a less than
precision job. Here we have a superlative example - eye clean and
strikingly well cut by one of our very best cutters. The color is bright
and super saturated, exactly what you would hope for in one of these.
