1.72 ct. Thaumasite
By far, the most impressive example of this rare gem species that
we have offered. Thaumasite is a silicate mineral with a somewhat atypical
chemical structure - in fact the name of the mineral itself is derived from a
meaning 'to be surprised' or a wonder. Typically quite
small and usually assymetrical, these are rarely so impressive. Thaumasite
typically forms as a radiating mass of needles and gemmy single crystal pieces
are essentially known only from South Africa. Excellent clarity and
absolute precision cutting - all in a superlative size for the species.
With a full GIA cert as well - excellent collectors piece!
