1.15 ct. Green Zoisite (Tanzanite)
Widely known as Tanzanite in the typical
violet-blue color, Zoisite is actually found in a whole spectrum of hues. One
of the rarest and most attractive of these is a rich, bright green that is a
natural shade - remember that most traditional Tanzanite is heated. In fact
when this rough was first found it was so distinctive as to merit discussion of
a new variety name - 'Gubelinite' after the famed gemologist. Though these
plans fell through, the material remains exceptionally attractive and sought
after in the market place - now sometimes referred to as 'chrome' Tanzanite.
This lovely stone is a bright and brilliant example of this rare color - a
pleochroic deep green just touched with an attractive bluish modifier.
Nice size for these - we rarely have stones in excess of one carat with this
nice of a color.
