0.41 ct. California Augelite
|Color: Colorless||Clarity: Slightly Included|
|Origin: Champion Mine, Mono Co., California||Cut: Triangle|
|Treatments: None||Measurements: 6.3 x 5.3 mm|
A significant US rarity - Augelite from California's Champion Mine. Prior to this find, there had been no such thing as facet grade pieces of this rare phosphate mineral. Subsequently there have been a few finds elsewhere, most notable some rare greenish material from Peru that came out several years ago. California Augelites were always rare and now have all bust disappeared - we have only very rarely seen any offered. The cutting is excellent and the stone is bright with a pleasing level of brilliance. A respectable size for gems from this locale as well. It almost goes without saying that this is the only one of these we have!
